Guest Robert Bodling Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was running system defrag on my laptop and after it sat there sorting the files, it decided to shut power off, any ideas as what might tell the system to shut off. It doesn't do this during normal operation...
Guest Kelly Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Re: Laptop shuts down during Defrag Process... Hi Robert, No answer, just a comment....if your system is NTFS, there really isn't a need nor purpose using defrag. -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP) Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm "Robert Bodling" <robertbodling@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:46e5e62b$0$17103$4c368faf@roadrunner.com... >I was running system defrag on my laptop and after it sat there sorting the >files, it decided to shut power off, any ideas as what might tell the >system to shut off. Unless you have something configured wrong...(running disk in PIO vs. DMA). If you have the laptop set to shut itself off after a period of inactivity (POWER settings), that would do it. Just having a program running is NOT considered "activity", it needs to see key presses or mouse movement. Are you plugged in when you do this, or running on battery? > Is it a Toshiba 1800 or 1805? > >
