I, like 99 percent of the people out there look at the end result and could care less where it comes from. If a driver exists for Windows and not for Linux, then Linux sucks. That's the way of the world. Do you care who made the hoses for your washing machine? I don't as long as they work. The problem with Linux is that the community is always whining and placing blame every place it can but at the same time ignoring the fact that Linux is free and Windows is not. So where is Linux? It's free for goodness sakes. Maybe the real truth is that people have tried Linux and decided that it sucks. Ever consider that option? It's the most logical one AFAIK.

Well it doesn't sound that logical to me, as millions have tried Linux, love it and are using it. (estimated at around 29 million users now). So other than the few whiners like you, who for some reason are unable to wrap their heads around using Linux, I'd think that you are not being logical, AFAIK. Guest Anteaus Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Re: linux is crap.. but vista is.... Re: linux is crap.. but vista is.... Well, I've started using Linux for real, and while it has it's strong points it can also be VERY frustrating, like taking six hours (most spent studying mangpages written by an illiterate Klingon) to get time synchronization working, which would take me 30sec on a Windows box. I mostly use legacy Windows versions, and will probably continue to do so for the forseeable future.. But, if the choice was between Linux and Vista, I know which I'd choose.

It's not logical and it's not likely. What is likely is that you know very little about Linux and have no desire to learn. That's ok, many people are not willing to take the time to learn anything new. -- ´When facism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.¡ - Sinclair Lewis.

Yeah, Windows is subsidised by Linux users who buy machines with Windows preinstalled... and then wipe it from the machines. > So where is Linux? On all my machines. > It's free for goodness sakes. I think perhaps the the correct statement would be that people will take the path of least resistance. While there is Windows available, they don't have to spend the time to "learn" something else. They plug their computer in and use it, they aren't looking for an adventure.

And yet if you google "time synchronization" and windows, there seem to be thousands of people who can't do it on windows. But once they've done it on windows, it only takes 30 seconds to do it again. Do you think it would take you six hours to do it a second time ;-) Louis (I use them both where appropriate) "Anteaus" <Anteaus@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:003EE364-2728-4041-95CE-023935205042@microsoft.com... > Well, I've started using Linux for real, and while it has it's strong points > it can also be VERY frustrating, like taking six hours (most spent studying > mangpages written by an illiterate Klingon) to get time synchronization > working, which would take me 30sec on a Windows box. > > I mostly use legacy Windows versions, and will probably continue to do so > for the forseeable future.. I use both Linux and Windows. The Linux box will run non-stop for months and has top-notch security (great for proxy servers), unlike any Windows O/S I've tried. The Windows O/S is required for some applications I need. However, it's unlikely I'd spend over $75 for any home operating system. I know Vista is here to stay, get over it, but it still sucks.
