I have a 2019 Server ( not DC ) with 2 NICs. One NIC is for connecting to the DC via internal network and subnet 192.168.3.X .

The second NIC is for public IPs and it has publicly routed IPs.

As soon as I set a gateway on the Public NIC in order to have outside access, the server sets the LOCAL NIC to 'Public' profile and it loses DC connection.

If I leave an internal gateway set on the LOCAL NIC then DC connection is fine, the LOCAL NIC is seen as Domain, but I no longer have outside access via the Public one..

I tried setting two gateways, local one for local nic, public one for public nic but that results in weird behavior.

I tried setting manually the LOCAL NIC to Domain Profile while it has no LOCAL gateway, but it won't take it:

[iCODE]Set-NetConnectionProfile -InterfaceIndex 10 -NetworkCategory Domain Set-NetConnectionProfile : Unable to set NetworkCategory to 'DomainAuthenticated'. This NetworkCategory type will be set automatically when authenticated to a domain network. [/iCODE]

To sum things up:

Local NIC: IP = 192.168.3.61 -> DC = 192.168.3.60 , no gateway set but obviously it can reach the DC via ping

Public NIC: IP = 1.2.3.4 -> gateway: 1.2.3.1

How can it join the DC without a gateway and or without seeing that connection as being Domain type ?
