Microphone not picking up voice.

I have an acer nitro 5 laptop. I had Realtek headset and the mic was always really low no matter what I did. So I got myself a usb-c microphone….still have the same issue both sound really muffled I have to talk really loud for it to pick up my voice. Then it will cut of my voice really quick. I have a really deep voice but it should pick it up still.I use obs and tried the filters there, it can open it up but the louder I get more distorted it gets.
