ununstall old version of yahoo toolbar

I have updated the yahoo toolbar on my computer to the new 7.x version but

still have the 6.x version hanging around. In the add/remove programs there

is only one option which I would assume would uninstall the entire thing.

Anyone know how to get rid of the old one?

Iceman,

Are you sure you still have the old version lingering or just the entry in the

ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS Applet? Would have thought Yahoo would have overwritten the

entry when you installed a newer version

You can go to the Yahoo folder in Program Files & check

I have a VERY old version of the toolbar. It appears in Add/Remove>BT

Applications>Change/Remove>BT Online Protection>Toolbar with Pop-Up

Blocker.

If you haven't got a version quite as old as mine, you may still find it

in BT Applications.

Re: ununstall old version of yahoo toolbar

I only have one entry in the add/remove box which I believe to be the new

version. When I go to C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Companion\Installs I have two

folders. One is cpn and the other is cpn0. Looking through I see the yt.dll

in cpn to have a file version of 2006.4.6.1 and the the yt.dll in cpn0 to

have a file version of 2007.7.25.1.

Basically each cpn* folder holds a new install of the toolbar. I wonder if

it's as easy as deleting the older folder or is there a better way?

Iceman,

Cannot see as it will be as easy as deleting the folder because if IE is still

using that version then there will be registry entries

In one of the Yahoo links I supplied yesterday is Contact Customer Services at

the base of the page. I would use that & ask Yahoo as it's really their job to

get it sorted

Yahoo could take 48 hours to get back to you
