RDP works great, now how to I make sure I am the only one that can connect?

Okay, I have RDP configured and running great. Problem is that I am

getting people trying to log in remotely other than me.

So I have used IPSec before to kick people off my server, but really

it's a pain and I know there's a better way.

I was using IPSec as it did say that it can manage 'remote access' but

it doesn't seem to work no matter what I try. It still allows another

computer on my network to login.

Anyone know of a way to have only 1 ip address access my remote server

through RDP?

Running Windows 2003 Server SP2

I know there's a way to do this using VPN, but I don't have any

experience and looks confusing.

Have you tried adding only your user account to the Remote Desktop Users

group? Also you may not want to give any administrators accounts for other

to use.

Thanks

yes, I turned off any other people having access and only have 1 user/

pass account allowed in.

Plus changed the username from administrator to something else just to

make sure they couldn't figure that out either.

Yep, I have only the user accounts that need RDP using it, but still

getting idiots trying to log in.

It's becoming a real pain and I hate to use a third party software to

have remote access.

Re: RDP works great, now how to I make sure I am the only one that can connect?

Below are some methods you can use:

1. Your existing firewall device may have the ability to only

allow incoming connections to port 3389 from certain ip

addresses. Check the documentation.

2. Edit the Remote Desktop Exception scope in Windows

Firewall on your Terminal Server to only include certain ip

addresses.

3. You can use IPSec to limit which addresses can connect

to your TS. Here is a video clip that walks through the set up

using the IP Security Policies mmc snapin:
