Guest Joey Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I wonder if any one can assist. We run Windows Small Business Server 2003 and XP Prof SP2 on a laptop. This laptop is used at the office as well as at home. At the office he obviously logs into a domain. The client would like to select the different logon names from a drop down menu so that he doesn't have to type it in all the time. Is there a way to do this? I have tried TweakUI from PowerToys but upon installing TweakUI I don't have the option under the Logon Section to hide or make visible a user account. I only have AutoLogon, Settings and Screen Saver. I have also manually edited the registry under Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\ UserList and added the other username with a "1" to be displayed. I cannot get this to work. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Guest Joey Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Re: Windows Welcome Screen - Different Users Ok it seems as if it can't be done under a domain. Any suggestions on how to create your own logon screen where you can select more than one user or any other suggestions on how to solve his problem when he wants to switch between the users?
Guest Curt Christianson Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Re: Windows Welcome Screen - Different Users Hi Joey, To do what you are looking for, wouldn't you be able to do this by going to Control Panel->User Accounts->Change the Way Users Log on and Off, and choose "Use Welcome Screen? It's not a drop-down box, but at least he could select his account from a group of all users available on the machine. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are trying to do. -- HTH, Curt Windows Support Center http://www.aumha.org Practically Nerded,... http://dundats.mvps.org/Index.htm "Joey" <jjacobs@bclr.com> wrote in message news:1189499893.035675.246510@o80g2000hse.googlegroups.com... | Ok it seems as if it can't be done under a domain. That option just isn't available. I have tried editing the registry and using TweakUI but all those options are only for stand alone users or workgroup users - not domain users.
