Windows Movie Maker 2.1 & SP2

Recommended Posts

I had to delete movie maker 2.1 from my system because it was functioning

improperly, however, when I try to remove the .dll files from the movie maker

folder, they come right back, and if I remove the folder in safe mode, it

also comes right back. I need to delete these files in order to use the

installer, because with the .dll files present, the installer thinks movie

maker is already installed on my computer, when it in fact is not. Does

anybody know a good solution to get rid of the dll files or the folder

entirely (maybe through the registry?)

Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm trying to make a movie for my

girlfriend, and this is not helping my project at all. Thanks in advance!

Re: Windows Movie Maker 2.1 & SP2

Movie Maker is part of the Windows OS.

The DLLs are replaced by the system file protection.

What makes you think deleting Movie Maker files and then-recopying the files

will even fix it?

Movie Maker issues are usually caused by issues with OTHER stuff installed.

Codec packs, incompatible software, etc.

\Windows\System32\DLLCache is where copies of the files are.

If you delete them from DLLCache and make sure there isn't an XP install

source accessable to the system, you should have no trouble deleting the

installed files.
