Double-click does not open Edge.

Something happened to my computer. When I double-click an Edge icon on the desktop the Edge does not open and on the left corner of the Edge icon pops up a small blue box with a check mark. I can open the Edge only with a right-click then click Open. The same way I can open a folder and file in File Explorer. I don’t know how to get back to double-click.
