shadowing - due to new cables?

I recently replaced my original 15pin VGA cable with a new one (purchased on line). I admit, it was the cheapest I could find, but am now regretting this due to shadowing on my screen which definitely was not there before.

I have a Packard Bell Intel pentium 4 processor and sony flat screen monitor. Has anybody else encountered this problem with cheaper cables?

It does sound like a dodgy deal! Have you tried it with another cable from a friend or the previous one? If it is the cable then I recommend you apply for a replacement from the company or person who sold it to you. Under the Distance Selling Regulations the seller has an obligation to provide you with working goods.
