Guest Candace Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Does Windows XP track user's program activity by default? If so, where can I find log files of this information?

Go into Search for Files and Folders and do a search using the name "History". It will turn up the obvious ones. After that, it means doing some looking inside the *.ini files as well as in the Registry, among other places.

This will allow you, for example, to figure out when the system was started and shut down. If what you're trying to do is something like enforcing restrictions on family ( i.e. children's) PC use, consider applications like NetNanny. These do produce detailed logs and will give you solid control over the use of the PC, as long as you do keep control over the passwords. HTH -pk
