Files in Shared Network Drive Keep Closing Randomly - SMB/Network Issue?

Hello everyone,

I've been facing an issue in my company where users are experiencing random disconnections from a shared network drive. Specifically, when they open a document from a shared folder, it closes by itself unexpectedly. It happens inconsistently, but often enough to be disruptive.

Here are some key details about the environment:

  • We use shared network drives on a Windows Server.
  • The clients are Windows 10 PCs.
  • Users map network drives manually, but after a while, some files just close randomly.
  • We've ensured the network is stable, and there's no clear sign of why the issue occurs.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • I’ve already checked the event logs but couldn’t find any significant errors related to [iCODE]explorer.exe[/iCODE].
  • I’ve also checked permissions on the shared folder, everything seems fine, but the problem persists.
  • I tried adjusting the SMB AutoDisconnectTimeout to a higher value using [iCODE]Set-SmbServerConfiguration -AutoDisconnectTimeout 60[/iCODE], but the issue still occurs.

Does anyone have suggestions on what could be causing this? Could it be a GPO setting or something else that might be interrupting the file sessions? Any insights or guidance would be appreciated!
