Why won’t one drive mobile work with limited access?

I’m trying to transfer pictures from phone to PC. I use phone for personal and work. I only want personal pictures transferred. When I have it on limited access it says “lost access to photos”. At first I thought the WiFi dropped so I clicked on full access just to see and suddenly the app started working. I want to control the pictures that transfer over. I don’t want to waste time having to go in and delete 100’s of work pictures. If it doesn’t work on limited then this app is pointless and a waste of my time.
