Guest jam05xyz Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 My Dell 8500 laptop power supply unit failed. I removed the hard drive and purchased a hard drive enclosure. Then, I hooked it up to my Dell XPS 400 desktop (uses Microsoft Media Center Edition). I can retrieve many files, however anything associated with the Windows XP OS (that was on the laptop), to include my Outlook e-mail files, does not show up when I look for the files. I believe that Windows and Microsoft Office files were partitioned (the files I cannot see) from the other files. Does anyone have advice on how to access these files? I have also tried booting the hard drive from my USB port, but have received errors. Thanks in advance.
Guest JS Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Re: Hard Drive Saved / How to Retrieve E-Mail and Other Files? Try searching the drive for files with a .dbx extension, the file names will be the same as the folder names in OE. (Example: myfoldername.dbx). I am not certain if Outlook 2007 retains the .PST file extension. Make note of the location of the file then tell the Outlook installed on the desktop machine to import the emails from that location.
