Dns sever working properly only on virtual machine

I've been trying to set up a dns server on windows 2022 through a virtual machine but it doen't really work outside of the virtual machine. When I ping the Domain inside the VM it reponds fine with the right IP address. When I try to ping the domain on the computer hosting the VM it doesn't wokr at all. Then when I try to ping a specfic host under the domain it works fine in the VM but brings back a different IP when I ping it using the host computer. So I'm not sure what I did wrong asnd it been driving up the wall trying to figure it out. More Details: The server has a static ip, both the VM and server are on the same ethernet connection, the vm is connected to the intertnet using Brigded, an active directory is set up, and I turned on ICMPv4 in the windows firewall on the VM.
