Good evening,

Before I explain the issue, I should mention that this is a part of a lab environment and not a production environment, as I am learning Windows Server.

OS Version: Server vNEXT (2024).

I am attempting to install updates, and as I try to check for updates and install them, they fail to install. My first instinct is to restart the Windows update service and try again. As I open services.msc, I get a UAC prompt that says, "An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information contact the administrator. mmc.exe." There is no way for me to approve the prompt as the only button is "close". I immediately began to check to see if the OS was active, and I confirmed it had an active license assigned to it. Is there a way for me to get past that message and to check for updates as I am testing multiple items out in my virtual environment to learn. Below is a screenshot of the message.

Information:

The server is domain joined.

The account I am using is a domain admin.

I added the domain admin account into the local admin's group and tried to access services.msc, and I am still denied access as I cannot approve the prompt.

EDIT: I cannot access any of the MMC tools as I get a very similar prompt to the one pictured below.

Any advice would be helpful.

UAC prompt I receive.
