Think My PSU's dead??

Hi all 1st time poster on here so be gentle lol. Just turned my pc on and noticed blue led came on for a few seconds & a wurring noise which was coming from the bk top part of my tower took the side of my tower case off and there was a slight sorta burning smell.

 

Plugged power lead back in and now nothing no power at all any ideas???.

 

My Psu is a Zalman ZM3608-APS looking into getting a replacement asap if needed as i cant live without my pc lol could i just stick to the same Psu??

 

Also just thought i'd mention had pc for almost 2 years i bought it off a friend who built it sometimes you hear a clicking type of sound coming from inside the pc like a power trip any ideas

Hmm - I am not convinced that the PSU is going - it sounds more like the HDD (hardrive) if its making clicking noises.

when you power the PC - does the PSU fan spin at all?

If the HDD is clicking it is dying or dead, if you can borrow an empty HDD from a friend and install it and then try and switch on and see if it posts

Or just remove the hard drive completely and see if it boots, you will of course see a "Hard disk not found" error but at least you'll know.

Hi sorry about the late reply well im getting nothing not tried a different power lead and boom sparks from the back so i think its def dead now!!!!

 

when i got home this morning pc didnt startup but i could hear the fan making a strange sound then nothing.

 

Do you guys know where i can get a replacement PSU around 400w & quiet like my old Zelman.Ive found my old psu but i'll have to oreder it from Germany

Just ordered a Corsair VX 450W as a replacement hopefully its just the PSU thats gone also hope its easy to connect up
