Guest Brakeshoe Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I am running Windows XP Professional on my laptop. I have an intermitant problem with the All Programs list. Once or twice a day when I go to the Start Button and mouse over the All Programs Button it takes up to 30 seconds for the list to populate. Most of the time the list populates instantly. The issue does not seem to occur based on what is running at the time of the problem. Thanks Dave
Guest Rich Barry Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Re: All Programs listing is slow to load How much Ram do you have installed in your Laptop? Anything under 512MB usually results in some sluggishness. Guest Brakeshoe Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Re: All Programs listing is slow to load Rich: I am running 1.99 GB of RAM so that is not the problem. Guest Rich Barry Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Re: All Programs listing is slow to load Thirty seconds would be enough time to rt click on Taskbar>select Properties>Processes. See if any are taking or using a high percentage of your cpu cycles. Also, you could look at the Event Viewer found in Control Panel>AdminTools. Guest Brakeshoe Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Re: All Programs listing is slow to load Rich: I tried this and the CPU was only 4% in use. I think the problem is something funkier that RAM or CPU. Dave "Rich Barry" wrote: > Thirty seconds would be enough time to rt click on Taskbar>select > Properties>Processes.
