Help interpreting performance data

Hi Everyone,

We have a server that is running very slowly and we've been unable to

pinpoint what the problem is. By the time we realize it is running slowly,

it's already too late to do any advanced troubleshooting because it's sooooo

slow that it's basically unresponsive and the only option is to reboot it.

It comes up fine, but then a few days later starts acting up again. This

time I was able to get a screenshot of Task Manager before it became

unusable. I transcribed some of the entries from some of the executables

that looked suspicious for one reason or another. I didn't even bother to

copy the CPU numbers because CPU utilization is very low, even when the

server is slow as molasses. I don't know what these numbers mean - or to

put it better, I have an idea what they mean, but I'm not sure which of

these processes is the smoking gun. Any help is appreciated!

Is it tomcat or java web server ?

What are the parameter for the java start (max memory) ?

The server has 1 Gig of RAM. It is running an Oracle Apache web server.

I'm not sure how to find the java start max memory?

Thanks much!

Re: Help interpreting performance data

Would I be looking for some way to set the memory limit on java.exe or Apache.exe?

Do you think that many page faults for svchost.exe is normal? I'm also wondering about the paged pool and nonpaged pool numbers froFrameworkService. Do you think they look reasonable?

Thanks!

Re: Help interpreting performance data

If it was a simple tomcat, i would tell you yes, but this is a more sophisticated software here..

On the admin website, do you have something like:

Administering Oracle Web Cache > Resource Limits

?
