shut down restart

Recommended Posts

When I turn my computer on, I get a winlogon.exe error message. Then when I

turn off the computer, it automatically restarts, and I have to shut down

twice to get it to turn off.

I disabled "automatically restart" so that I could see what error message I

receive. I now get "Fatal System Error Stop c000021a".

I'm not sure what to do now. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: shut down restart

First check wht happens in safe mode.

Then boot to recovery console and run chkdsk /p and chkdsk /r.

Re: shut down restart

Microsoft has a write-up on the c000021a error. Go to Microsoft and search

for c000021a.

Re: shut down restart

I have tried the steps in this article that I understood, but I still have

the problem.

I have checked that Dr. Watson my default debugger, however I'm not sure how

to view the log or what to make of it.

I could not find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows

NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Value = GinaDLL REG_SZ.

I restarted my computer in safe mode and selected Last Known Good

Configuration.

What else do you suggest?

RE: shut down restart

What should I check in safe mode? I have gone into safe mode several times,

trying to solve the problem, but it persists.

Re: shut down restart

I have read that article and done the things that I understand. But maybe

I'm not understanding it clearly.
