If it says supports 45nm CPU's then that normally means with a BIOS update - It will say if it takes 65nm CPU's too and then thats fine.

but none of them mention 65nm processors in their spec, they just say about supporting 45 :(

My ASUS supports 65nm and is capable with an update to use 45nm - check in the product spec and it will tell you there which CPU's it supports - the problem is that 45nm CPU's use less power than 65nm CPU and thats why my AW9D MAX couldnt do it - it couldnt handle the voltage drop :eek:

If you are really unsure then give me the product number of the MOBO you intend to get and I will check it for you

I went onto the gigabyte website, found the mobo that I wanted then checked on their list of supported CPU's and it says:

 

IntelCore™ 2 Quad Q6600 2.40HGz 8MB Kentsfield 65nm G0 95W 1066 F11

 

That probably makes no sense out of context xD

It will take the 65nm out of the box and the 45nm with a BIOS update by the looks of it :D

Lol I made my first mistake by not chekcing my order carefully and found out I had ordered 2 PSUs xD Ohwell, they said I can gladly send one back for a full refund :D

Its all a learning curve:-

Main things to take special care over:-

Route the cables as efficiently as possible (as to not restrict the flow of air) under the MOBO is best before you screw it into the standoffs :D

 

Dont use too much thermal paste - about the size of a grain of rice for a 65nm CPU :D

 

Make sure that you put the pins from the case to the MOBO for the HDD lights and power buttons in correctly - there will be a diagram in your MOBO book on which ones they go to - some now come with a block to make it easier :D

 

And if you put it all together and press the power button and nothing happens then you know where we are :D

Can you find me a good wireless networking card that would work on Vista?

That's the one thing I forgot to get, and half the reviews of them say stuff like "DO NOT GET THIS FOR VISTA" etc =/ scaryyy :(

I personally would not use wireless on a main PC if you can avoid it - stick to wired if you can - let me know if this is not possible and I will find you a card/stick

I know what you mean, but it's not possible at my flat, unless i buy a 50ft cable to route around the house instead of launching it across the hallway xD else where i'll cable it but must be wireless at my flat.

 

 

and I've hit another problem.. =/ half my pc got delievered today, all well and good, the other half however, has been stuck, i emailed to ask why and i got a reply stating that everything was fin except my monitor was damaged so they contacted Asus who had no plans of restocking them to this company and therefore they cant send out the rest of the order without my consent >_< which i would give but now I'm a monitor down and I cant find a suitable replacement off the same site... meaning more shipping charges and longer waiting times to get one elsewhere =/

 

Someone here with a lot of power, doesnt want me to have this PC :'(

Oh dear - Right - whats been delivered - some MOBO's come with wireless and the reason I mention it is if your MOBO has not been delivered yet the amount you would save on a wireless adapter you can put toward another MOBO - my ASUS one has it, I am not sure on the pricing of the board you chose, but if its say £20-£30 away from my ASUS, get the ASUS.

As for the monitor - its always the way - ask them whats the nearest one to yours that they would recommend and its its slightly dearer then barter with them. :D

I am paying about £75 for my mobo so I dont think it's that close to yours :P

 

And it's too late to ask about a monitor =/

My dad's already taken control and told them to deliever the rest of the order as it's being delievered to him, they contacted him by phone so he had to give an anaswer there and then.

 

So now I have no monitor at all for this pc =/

Well that would mean extra shipping charges anyway because neither of the sites I used had yours, I looked :P

it's £112 at ebuyer but i've already recieved the stuff from them =/

 

would it be worth cancelling the mobo from this current supplier and order yours from ebuyer?

 

Also what about this mobo, would this be worth a look at?

You cannot even compare ASROCK to ASUS :eek:

I would if you need to have wireless go for the ASUS as its a fantastic board - try and find a bad review - and with a decent cooler you can OC' the Quad to 3.3 on air :D

 

It really is your choice mate, but you are paying £75 for the board at the moment and then £20-£30 for a decent wireless device, your pretty much there for the ASUS

Alright, well seeing as I have already recieved the goods from Ebuyer, they're still unopened so I'll get on the phone to them to see if I can do a straight swap for the Asus and they just take the extra out of the card instead of refunding then recharging as that will take a while :(

Hopefully if I do that soon I can have the new mobo by tomorrow :D on nextday delivery.

 

Any ideas about my Monitor situation?

 

I have now contacted ebuyer to see if it is possible to exhange my parts at my local branch where the part fo my order with the mobo is being held currently :P

Hopefully they will reply soon...

 

Nevermind, they are replying to questions within 2 business days >_>

 

I'll ring them in a minute.

I'm not sure I was looking to spend no more than £115 really on a decent monitor, and I believe eBuyers monitors for that price range are not as good as my chosen one :(

 

this is the best one I could find on there, but I only started looking yesterday when I got the email :(

I think I'll go do it now, ring them and see if first I can do an exhange of Mobos, and if I can add this monitor to the order, but I'm guessing they wont extend my free next day delievery offer to these extra items would they :(

There goes my plan of building it over the weekend -.- I will get to see the boxes all of next week and the week after before i even start building it, as it wont all be here till Monday, I have college during the week and I stay at my dads during the week but the pc will be at my flat, im busy next weekend, so it wont be for 3 weeks before my pc even gets started on... I've never been so annoyed in my life.. =/ sorry I had to rant, i have a lot left over still xD
