that is all the same as mine except for the CPU fan of course, and when i change them FROM ignore, all it does is show the RPMs... and no other options except IGNORE or show RPMs

and i see yours only has 3 fans too :(

I guess so :P

Need one that controls 4 I'm guessing :)

Yay I can count.

I'm not bothered about it though, so I wont get one unless I really have to.

My next question :P

The Asus tools that OC it automatically, like NOS and things, are they fine to use, like would they actually do what it says on the tin?

Is the board not controlling any of the 4 - I though 3 were ok and one was not - use the one in the link for the front fan

As for the OC tools - I can tell you how to get 3.3 on air - at your own risk of course :D

I would like it to be stable of course, what difference would I see at say 3 instead of the current 2.4?

And according to the Asus manual, it says chassis fans 1-4 are controlled by the board, there isnt another slow "pwr_Fan" which it does not mention at all.

Right Matt -

THIS IS TAKEN AT YOUR OWN RISK

OVERCLOCKING CAN REDUCE THE LIFE OF YOUR COMPONENTS, AND VOIDS MOST WARRANTIES.

This was the SAFEST and best solution when I ran on air 3.3GHz per core!

Go into the BIOS and click:-

ADVANCED

JUMPERFREE CONFIGURATION

AI OVERCLOCK TUNER - set this to MANUAL

SET THE FSB FREQUENCY to 367

You then need to set the timings for your RAM - if you chose the OCZ REAPER 1066 it will be 5-5-5-15 and then save and exit.

PLEASE KEEP AN EYE on your temps as I am not sure if the case that you bought is up to the job - An Antec on the other hand

hey it's fine :P i'm away for the next 4 days.

and yeah I did although on BIOS it only detects it as 667? :S

and it also says "Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Count: 2"

whats the "Count" for?

also my pc seems to have random memory lapses, earlier it could not detect the HDD, even after restarting 4 times, then on the fifth time, it found it again and it did the same with the keyboard and mouse :(

it's working fine now though :D

So how would I go about OC'ing it? I might do it when I get back Monday night, so if you explain and I don't have time to do it now, i'll do it then. :P

EDIT: in answer to if my case is up for it, at the moment, the CPU never exceeds 40 degrees, is that fine for standard? And thats after playing Call of Duty 5 for a few hours.

I'll try it now and watch my temps, if it goes too high just reset back to Auto right? :P

Dont worry about the count thing mine does it too -

I have put the instruction for OC'ing it in the post above yours :)

Thats weird with the lapses - have you set the HDD to the top of the BOOT list in the BIOS and I dont mean the HDD as first boot device - do you just have the one drive?

the top is auto set to floppy eventhough there isnt any 3.5" devices connected, but then its the HDD then the CD drive :S and it's in the sata port 1. It's first in everything, and yeah I just have the one drive, how long should drives last? As I have a 250GB HDD in my old pc, and I was thinking of maybe slaving it or using it for backups on my new system, but my old PC is about 7 years old :)

And I'm still away from home until tonight so I will try the OC'ing when I'm next with my pc.

Thanks

To be honest Matt if the drive is an older one its not as good as a SATA and you may be better asking SANTA for one - Set the First device to HDD and disable the others.

You will be impressed with the OC - run a benchmark before and after thats where you notice the difference, You are gaining Nearly 4Ghz over the 4 cores - Most people dont have one chip that runs at that speed - :D

Haha okay :P

I don't desperately need another HDD, just wondering if it would be of any use :D

And okay, I'll OC tomorrow after college as I'm not there right now, unfortunately I'm at my dad's which needs a new switch as this one refuses to work, it changes the ports that it wants to work each and everyday... :P

Thanks

Okay well I ran a benchmark test at the original and now again at the new OC and it's a great improvement :D

throughout the test even under full load, the CPU stayed below 50'C

Time to go test it out with fallout3, farcry2 and CoD5 :D

Thanks
