Guest saddlesaw Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I recently installed a new hard drive but I cannot see it in windows when it is installed as a slave. I can use it when it is installed as the primary drive on the second channel and it is useable when installed as a slave when I boot with Linux. For some reason any drive installed as a slave cannot be seen in windows. Any suggestions?

Guest Harry Ohrn Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Re: Slave drive not detected http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/install-hard-drive.htm The jumper must be set to the Slave position on the drive to be detected. Also you say it is detected by Linux. Was the drive formatted using Linux? If so you will need to repartition and reformat the drive as NTFS in order to have Windows see it. -- Harry Ohrn MS MVP [shell\User] http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp "saddlesaw" <saddlesaw@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F907D851-5B9B-4BDC-BA67-C83E605994C4@microsoft.com... >I recently installed a new hard drive but I cannot see it in windows when >it > is installed as a slave.
