licensing help

I recently installed a new server running Windows 2003 and installed terminal

services. This server is replacing an existing terminal server. When I did

the install I didn't pick a license server and it told me I had 120 days (I

think) for the grace period. All of the users have since been moved off of

the old server onto this new server (most are thin clients). My question is

how can I make sure the new server is licensed properly. The old server is

still providing file services but I can go ahead and remove terminal

services. When I go to the new server and look at the terminal services

licensing it's pointing to the DC that has the licenses installed. I guess

because the new server was set to "automatic" it went out and found it.

I just want to make sure that once the grace period is up that the server

will still allow connections. I can't find anywhere that says it's still

running in that grace period.

And if I remove terminal services from the old server will the new server

"pick up" those licenses?

Thanks!

Re: licensing help

It sounds like your new server is communicating properly to the license

server. Terminal servers do not handle licensing at all so there is no

"pick up". The terminal server is simply a middle man for the client to

the license server.
