Guest Roby Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Long story short - my hard drive was out of space so installed a larger one and reinstalled XP pro - and all updates and SP2, etc (it was a terrible fight). Finally got everything working but whenever I pop-in one of those mini usb drives (Sandisk) the install wizard screen pops up and says an error occured "One of the filter drivers installed for this device is invalid". But then all the devices work fine - so the only issue is the annoying error message. Can this be easily fixed ? And yes, the devices work fine on other XP pro machines. Sandisk of course says its a porblem with my MS drivers and they are probably right - thanks for any help !
Guest DL Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Re: Driver ERROR with USB Jump Drives - Sandisk After reinstalling you installed your chipset & other drivers for your hardware from the manufacturers sites or cd's or did you rely on default winxp drivers & MSupdate? Guest Roby Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Re: Driver ERROR with USB Jump Drives - Sandisk Thanks DL - well mostly I relied on the MS xp and updates, SPacs, etc. But if a device wasn't acting correctly I'd go to the Mfgs. site and get the latest driver or follow their instructions to get a MS patch, etc. In the case of the mini USB drives (Sandisk) there are no Mfg. drivers or fixes and they advise to use the MS USB drivers. Again, the USB devices are working fine - just the annoying error message. When I use the same mini drives on other xp pro computers they work fine with no annoying error messages. Thanks for your help. Never rely on Microsoft Updates to provide yoy with the "correct" drivers. They are usually "outdated" if they successfully install or at worst will crash your XP.
