Hi All, Just bought a USB to Serial converter cable for my XP pro laptop, installed the driver as per the CD supplied and plugged in the device. After a while the system appeared to have installed everything but then reported that a USB device had mulfuctioned and may not work properly. It didn't.

If I look in Device Manager the device does not appear as a Port as it should do but is seen under USB devices as an unknown device, clicking properties for this reveals "no drivers are installed" yet the install did complete.

I've tried downloading the latest driver from the Prolific web site and re-installing but still the result is the same. Any ideas???

Bob.:confused2: frustrated and needing my serial port desparately.

You might want to uninstall the driver, restart and let Windows reload it.
