Guest shanchic_2004 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 When i try to install a game that has more than one disc and I insert the 2nd disc, it freezes and won't continue to install the game. I ordered a new CD-ROM so its not that, and i've tried other games so its not the game. I dont know what else to try.

Downloading a "game" should mean that you "click" on a web site link and "save" the game to your PC (hard drive or any other "drive" that you can write files to.) Installing a "game" will place the game onto your hard drive and install the game's configuration into Windows. What is the "name" of the game? What does the game's publisher suggest? Have you tried to install the game CDs on a different PC?

And its not the game because i have tried the same game just someone else's that I know works on other computers and I tried to install it on mine and it did the same thing. And no I haven't tried other games because i was pretty upset when i paid $40 for the one game and it didn't work. But i emailed the company I bought the computer from and they suggested I reboot windows XP and I really dont want to have to do that.
Guest Unknown Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Re: Problem Downloading Game When the second disk is installed, were you given instructions to install it? Prior to installing the second disk, check the status of the CD drive. Perhaps it's the dangerous and hard to disable 'AutoRun'|'AutoPlay' feature that is screwed up on your machine. Try holding down the [shift]-key for 20 or so seconds directly after inserting the second disc. Then let go and click on continue (or something similar) in the installer to continue. -- Nah-ah. I'm staying out of this. ... Now, here's my opinion. Please followup in the newsgroup. E-mail address is invalid due to spam-control.

Can you browse the disk and copy the contents to your computer? It could be a problem with the game installer on your machine. Sometimes CD drives just don't like certain disks. You may need to try another CD drive. Having said that, the fact it freezes and doesn't keep asking for the disc or throw up a read error suggests a problem with installer program on your machine.
