Remote Desktop / TS on Server 2003 is gone

I have a server running 2003, Web, SP1. Remote Desktop stopped

working after a reboot. What I have been able to see so far:

- Remote Desktop as part of System Properties is enabled

- There is no listener displayed in TS Manager

- The Server is no longer listening for 3389 (as shown with netstat)

- The options for TS, as part of Add/Remove Windows components, are

gone

It's as if RDP was wiped off the map. The reboot was harmless enough -

no major changes.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Sorry, just realized that there would be no options for TS in Add/

Remove as it is Web version of 2003. But any other ideas on how to

get RDP back?

With "2003, Web, SP1", do you mean that the server runs Windows

2003, Web Edition? Or that it runs Windows 2003, Standard /

Enterprise Edition + the web components for Terminal Services (aka

tsweb)?

Tried a second reboot?

Any errors or warnings in EventViewer?

I've had this happen to me once on a 2003, SP1 server. I had to

delete the rdp-tcp connection and create a new one to solve the

problem. You could try if that helps.

Have you considered installing SP2?

Hi Martin,

Have you tried recreating the listener object? This is done

using Terminal Services Configuration (tscc.msc).
