I am running a Dell desktop PC that was built in 2003 I cant remember if it is a 2500 or 3500. Anyway the issue is that i had viruses in my system which are now all clean and spyware etc. I went to start making backups of my photos of my family and son growing up, so i was drag and dropping the files from poloroid's izone to roxio easy cd creator 5 into a photo album. here is the kicker i went to move the album and it over wrote some of the pics with out asking and they now cant be found. after that i did do i system restore to the previous day but not thinking it was not going to repair nonwindow or microsoft software so i put the system back where it was. my question is....... is there a way i can restore my pc and software back to an original state even if i got to go back 3 months? my data recovery program is not finding what i need and the saved pics in roxio when dragged to a new folder are savede as scrap file so here is the second question if i can save a scrap file can i return it to its original state or back into a full jpeg file instead of an .shs file?

PLEASE ALL HELP IS NEEDED I CAN FIX THE FUTURE I CANT REPLACE THE PAST!

If the pictures you dragged, were located on removable media like a flash drive, then I am afraid that you have lost them forever. No file recovery software will display them if you lost them from an external media. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. :(

This sounds like a situation where for example I went to a website and saved a picture and it was called 0001.jpeg in My Pictures then a month later I saved a picture from a camera called 0001.jpeg to My Pictures.

A pop up would immediately occur and ask if you want to overwrite this file as it already exists.

here is the kicker i went to move the album and it over wrote some of the pics with out asking and they now cant be found.
If you replaced the original file with a new file of the same name then the original file is history.
