Guest kcladygemini Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 I wiped out my hard drive, starting fresh. Repeatedly getting error "ntldr is missing". I have already tried copying: d:\i386\ntldr c:\ d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ into the root directory but am told "access denied" on attempt. Any ideas?

Maybe you should elaborate on exactly what you have done, and what you are trying to do. What exactly do you mean by "wiped"?

If you have wiped your hard disk then the proper procedure to install WinXP is to boot off the WinXP CD and to follow the prompts. There is no need to copy anything. To boot off the CD, instruct your BIOS to use the CD drive as its primary boot device.
