Seth Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 foreverloved210 has asked for my assistance via PM's, as she is having difficulty in posting a new thread. Here is the issue in which I will PM her with the link: Hello Seth, I was hoping you could help me. My Internet isn't working right. It says that its connected, but when i click on it, it will load my homepage, but will not do anything else. It says error cannot find page. I am currently at work, and it is my pc at home... HELP!!! I don't have much time now, so here are some options for my fellow techs: - The displayed home page may just be the cache. - Confirm connectivity by a ping to Yahoo - Reset IE7. If IE6 is being used then attempt an IE7 download followed by an IE7 reset. - Confirm connectivity by a ping to Yahoo - Try Firefox - May be malware, ask what internet security is being used. Tony D Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 If she is conecting wirelessly, I suggest she first contact her ISP. A week ago I had a machine that would load some web sites, but not others. I brought the machine to my shop and it worked fine. The only difference was that I'm using Verizon ISP, they were using Comcast ISP. When I brought the machine back to the customer, the Internet connectivity was still an issue. Remember that it was not an issue in my shop. I called their ISP and was informed that there was a problem with Vista and a recent firmware update that Comcast pushed to their modem/router that affected wireless WPA connectivity. RandyL Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Thanks seth. Since your home page is the only page you can load I think seth is right that it's just a cached page and you might not be on the internet at all. To check this open a command prompt from accessories or by typing command in the Run box. At the command prompt type ping www. yahoo.com making sure you leave a space after ping. Let us know if you received all the packets or if any were lost. As Kelly said have you checked with your ISP to see if there was a problem with them? How are you connecting to the internet and who is your ISP? Are you using IE6 or IE7 or another browser? Quote We are all members helping other members.
