Guest Herman Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I re-installed my Cannoscan hardware (scanner) and software after removing it entirely from my system. The message I now get indicates that the mscms.dl is not found. What is this file and why do I get this message now as the scanner worked previously without any problem. Any help appreciated.

I removed and re-installed the software. Still I get the same message "looking for mscms.dll I also downloaded the latest driver for Canoscan. Also this did not help. Is there any other way to solve this? Is this perhaps due to automatic updates by Microsoft? I hope that you cen help me further. Herman

I did find 4 mscms.dll files. Two in blue and two in black. The latter one seems to be the one I downloaded. However, I do not understand what you mean by "repost" . Is that the same as replacing? I am really struggling.

C:\Windows\System32) where the two black files are located and what particular file version (eg. 5.1.2600.2709) do these files have? > However, I do not understand what you mean by "repost" . This means simply to post another message with the names of the folders where "mscms.dll" is present. The next step depends on that information and since there are multiple locations apparently, the corresponding file versions should be reposted as well. -- d-d

This solved the problem and the Canoscan is again working. I'm very grateful. Maybe I learned something in the process. Once again, thanks! Herman
