Guest johngood_____ Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 My broadband modem transformer has stopped working. My son has a small mains transformer with 'variable voltage' output choice (i.e. 3v, 6v, 12v etc) which I intend to use. Written on the tranformer is a chart with two lots of readings against each choice of voltage output. So against the 12 volt output (which is what I need) it says : '6V amps' and also it says '500 Milliamps'. The 500 milliamps I'm assuming is the maximum amperage it will deliver, but what is the meaning of 6V amps please? Thanks for any advice.

In this instance you can/could consider it the same as ~6 watts. You had mentioned it said 12 volts @ 500 ma. If you do the math, 12 volts x 500 ma. (1/2 amp.)= 6 watts. -- HTH, Curt Windows Support Center http://www.aumha.org Practically Nerded,... http://dundats.mvps.org/Index.htm "johngood_____" <void@void.net> wrote in message news:bkaHi.65089$sI3.61565@newsfe6-gui.ntli.net... | My broadband modem transformer has stopped working.
