I recently had to update my computer so I could keep up with the latest games.

I bought a new motherboard ( S-series Support AMD socket AM2, GA-M56S-S3 ),

Processor ( AMD AthlonX2 )

and graphics card ( Geforce 9500 GT ) and as far as i can tell these all seem to be working together fine.

My computer turns on as normal apart from when i get to the black loading screen I seem to get stuck at " Verifying dmi pool data" and other times it tells me there is a disk drive Error occuring and that i have to restart..

I've tryed running it from windows XP disk, and doing a repair but the same result happens sometimes it just decides to restart itself.

I've also tryed going around the BIOS but I don't really know what im doing. I really dont want to have to buy a new hard drive because I have so many things i need on it.

Please help!

Jonathan

You cannot change a Motherboard and run the same hard drive on the new Motherboard - you need to reinstall the OS and when windows loads you need to run the disk that came with the Motherboard.

Hi Johnathan

Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help

Did you back up your files to any media at all because you have made some serious hardware changes and dear old MS thinks you are pirating and therefore won't play.

It's either that or the hard drive is on it's way out.

I'd get a new drive, install that, install XP again and slave the old one to pull your old files off.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll take that advise thanks. But what do you mean by slave the old drive ? how do i go about getting those files back ?

Thanks

Basically what you need to do is buy another HDD and then install it - (take the old one out) and then install the operating system to the new drive and when all thats done set up -

you can add the old HDD and then pull any data off that you need onto the new drive - or format the old drive and have it a back up/ storage drive.

If you do not want to buy another drive then go to a friends and install your HDD in theirs as an addition drive NOT THE MASTER and then you can pull the data onto CD/DVD or flash and then format the drive and reinstall the operating system
