When I try to log on I get an incomplete dialog box:

More at: http://bluepointdesign.com/Blog/RDLogin/default.htm

It happened on one laptop under one profile and then I noticed it

affected all profiles. I switched to another desktop PC and it worked

fine that day. Now today I see the same problem on the second PC. It

seems to be spreading! However I can connect to the remote machines

using another VU machine from the same network. Also there ware tow

servers on the target and I get the same error on both of those. All

client machines are WVU with all the most recent patches and RDC 6. No

errors in the event log. Other machines can connect to those servers

with no problem as well. The affected machines can connect to other VU

workstations and to TS running on a W2kS. The network I'm trying to

connect to is a Windows 2003 SBS running RWW. Initially I tried to

connect with the RWW ActiveX control but the failure appears with or

without it. Tried many different settings with no effect.

It seems like something got corrupted in the same way on two machines.

But for the life of me I can't see how one can simply install Remote

Desktop Client 6. Any ideas?

I'm going to chronicle my errors on the link listed above in case

anyone is interested.

Hi,

Does the problem occur if you use an older version of the

Remote Desktop Client? You can install it using the install

file located on your SBS 2003 server's drive (or browse to

the tsclient share):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\clients\tsclient\win32\msrdpcli.msi

After it is installed make sure to launch it using the shortcut

under All Programs, *not* the shortcut under Accessories.

If you delete your Remote Desktop bitmap cache on the

client machine, do the symptoms change? The bitmap cache

files are located in the user's AppData under:

Local\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Cache

-TP
