Guest Stuart C Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I have been experiencing problems with my PC getting to 100% CPU usage and then freezing. I have managed to find out through a Virus scan than my PC will freeze when it gets to Delete MSACCESS.EXE.12E7C9F9.pf which is located in c:\windows\Prefetch. I have reinstalled Office, run error checks, detect & repair etc to no avail. I suspect I need to delete this file. However when i place my cursor over the file to delete my PC freezes again. Other files in this directory can be deleted apart from this one. I have two questions which i would appreciate any assistance on: 1. Is there another way I can delete this file. 2. Can files in c:\windows\Prefetch be deleted. I did try to delete the folder (whist maintaining a copy) but as soon as it got to MSACCESS.EXE.12E7C9F9, it agan freezed. Thank you. Stuart

To get into Safe Mode, press F8 early during the boot phase.
Guest mikeyhsd Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Re: Deleting a file in c:\windows\prefetch you can delete the entire contents off prefetch folder. NOT the folder. mikeyhsd@sprintpcs.com "Stuart C" <StuartC@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:23462981-D89C-4B79-8A7D-399EB808BA20@microsoft.com...
