connecting to tv

i have acer 5720 laptop.i used to connect laptop to the tv and it would work fine.but now when i connect ,laptop fine but my tv comes up going to sleep then goes into sleep mode,laptop is still working normally.have tried daughters laptop with the same connections and everything is fine.any advice would be appreciated

It sounds to me like the power settings for the laptop have been altered and that is reflecting on what you see on the TV.

 

Have you checked them?

I agree with Wolfey - failing that have you gone into the Graphics driver settings? there is an option called 'force TV detection' try what Wolfey has suggested and then we can go through the option above if it doesn't work.
