Guest John Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Hi, I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2. I recently downloaded a theme file for XP (with the THEME file extension) and ran it. Okay, so that worked. So, I go to the Start Menu to open a program. The normal shortcuts to My Computer, My Doc's and all those, have missing labels. I fixed that by using the Royale Noir theme. But, now there is *another* problem. Not with Royale Noir, but with the VistaXP theme (NOT the VistaXP application). So here is the problem. So let's say I go to My Documents, and click on the 'My Downloads' folder I created before I installed this [!BEEP!] theme. If I click on that it opens the search dialog box. Fair enough. But, click on another folder, it does the same thing! Uh oh, I think I just wrecked my system. I can't use System Restore because I didn't create a restore point. Tried 'scanreg' from the Run dialog, file not found. There were no changes at all to the Registry from this theme, just XP's look and appearance. So how do I stop this nonscene get the folders up and running again? Please answer when you have a suggestion. Really REALLY desperate for help. Oh no, now getting 'Access is denied' errors. Please help! John. -- A story of success always has a beginning.
Guest John Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 RE: Windows Vista Theme messed up XP? UPDATE: Folders are accessible from the 'Folders' frame in Explorer, but not accessible by double clicking on them. -- A story of success always has a beginning. Guest Rey Santos Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 RE: Windows Vista Theme messed up XP? Guest John Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 RE: Windows Vista Theme messed up XP? Thank you Rey. I'm not sure that the problem was fixed, because I get 'Access is denied' when I double-click on something. But I know how to fix Permissions. Once again thank you for the help.
