I recently bought and built my first computer with Windows Vista

Ultimate x64. My hardware is as follows:

Biostar T45 HP motherboard

Intel Quad Q8200 2.33Ghz processor

Corsair TX750w power supply

*XFX HD4870 1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

Corsair Dual Channel 8096MB (4x2) PC8500 DDR2

Western Digital 1Tb hard drive

*Comstar Wireless N USB Adapter

After about a month or two of problem free use I started getting a

BSOD that say "IRQL_not_less_or_equal" and occasionally one that says

"SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION". I have reinstalled Vista (and updated

drivers) and formatted my HDD but it still continued. I have run memtest

for 2 hrs and no errors were found. Also my processor temp. is usally no

higher than 35 degrees celcius.

* These are the two devices I have in questions because I have read

both cause BSOD but especially the HD4870 since I have taken off the

drivers for the adapter and taken it out of my computer and I still am

getting BSOD.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY, GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Some of the most prevalent causes :

This has been seen a few times due to antivirus issues. Disable

your antivirus as a test.

Simplify system. Remove ALL cards/devices not required.

Drivers, go to Device Maker's WebSite and get the latest driver.

Do not run UpDate Driver in Device Manager or even use the

scan for drivers at the maker's sites, these usually only check for

older ones. Video, Sound, Network Card/Wi-Fi and specialty

devices are most suspect.

If using latest video driver then revert back to an older one. Also

check site for Driver Removal to make sure no pieces of the

possibly bad one are left.

Corrupt Pagefile - If 2+ Gig RAM Make the Pagefile = 0

If less than 2 Gig RAM set it to small value like 100 meg. Reboot.....

set the pagefile back to Let windows handle it. (Tip = after reboot use

your clean up utilities and then defrag the drive and then reset pagefile

back. See JKDEFRAG

http://www.kessels.com/Jkdefrag/

Could easily be a RAM or other hardware issue, reseat RAM, cards,

and Cables. Actually remove and reseat, do not just try to snug. Power

cord unplugged!

Next time you get BSoD try to taace your mini dump files , usually located at ( how to find them)

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

I can analyze them for you and let you know what the problem is.

Hi,

As you reformatted/reinstalled and the problem still occurs, you likely have

a hardware issue. Disable non-essential peripherals (either through the BIOS

or by disconnecting them), then run the system for a while to see if it

still happens. If not, then the problem is one the ones you removed. If so,

then you're going to need to dig deeper. As you've checked the ram, you need

to suspect system timing, power supply, hard drive, processor, and possibly

the motherboard itself.
