error message about copying

What I was doing: scanning in artwork for a CD, then moving the scanned

artwork from "My Scans" to a flash drive. I then recieved this error message:

"Cannot copy(codename) the directory or file cannot be created". I have been

doing this for awhile without problems, and then all of a sudden, it doesn't

work. I am unable to move anything. I tried to move different scans ,

pictures(in My Pictures) and I just keep getting the same message. It also

will not allow me to drag an item either.

Help anyone?

RE: error message about copying

If you are putting the files in the "root directory" of the drive, there

could be a limit to the number of files and folders that can exist there

(usually 510).

Try to create a series of folders on the drive and copy the files to the

folders, not all just to the root directory.
