Licensing

My 2003 TS is installed as both the application and licensing server. It is

a stand alone server. I have activated the server as the license server. I

have installed the cals in user mode. However, every user who logs on is

getting a temporary license. None of the licensed cals are being issued.

Why would that be?

Will the user automatically pick up the valid license once the temporary

license expires?

Do I need to do something to make sure service is not interrupted?

Thanks.

Hi,

Make sure that your Terminal Server licensing mode is set to

Per User in Terminal Services Configuration (tscc.msc).

Okay. I changed it from per device to per user under the server settings. I

have also rebooted the server. Licenses still issued from temporary queue.

Do I need to do something else?

Re: Licensing

Are you saying that after you switched to Per User mode

a new temporary license was issued?

The temporary licenses that were issued previously should

still be there. Per User licenses are unmanaged so you will

not see any of those issued.

Re: Licensing

Thank you for that clarification. I logged on from a different machine and

did not see a temp license issued in license mgr. I guess things are working

properly.
