rabbyp Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Hi there, I have a bit of a problem using my TV as a monitor with my PC. I am using a Dell inspiron 531 with nvidia graphics card using a VGA as my output to my TV which has a VGA input. This is where Im lost, I have tried my PC in another TV of the same model (samsung LE32R8)and it works no problem. I have tried different pc's in my TV and they all work fine but my pc will not work with my tv. Has anybody any suggestions as to how to fix this cause I can't figure it out? Thanks Quote

mike Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Hmm, this is strange. Are you using the Nvidia Management Software. I seem to remember they provide some good troubleshooting and tools to help you connect up. Quote Need computer support? Then why not join Free PC Help. rabbyp Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 I have uploaded the latest drivers etc from their website but other than that I cant do anything. On occassion when I plug connect mt Tv to my PC I get a second of a picture then it just flicks off again. I have tried starting it in safe mode and it still doesnt work. I have really run out of ideas. My only other option I suppose is to buy a new graphics card and hope it works but I cant understand why it will work with a tv of the same model but not mine and other pcs will work with my TV. It doesnt make any sense to me  Quote

rabbyp Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 I only have a VGA output on my PC, thats why I was considering buying a new graphics card but I dont see why this shouldnt work. I would hate to spend a 100 quid on a new card just to find out it doesnt work either Quote

rabbyp Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 Yes, Im using it right now on my monitor. As I mentioned I was able to hook my PC up to a TV of the same model and I didnt even need to tweak anything. The TV came up with a message saying it was connecting and then the boot start up appeared so I cant understand why it won't work with my tv. I actually formatted my PC the yesterday thinking that was the cause of it but it hasnt made a difference Quote

Guest Wolfeymole Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 So can you see the POST screen and then it just goes off? Have you tried booting in Safe mode at all where it will load just base video drivers? Quote

rabbyp Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 On occassion it will show me a second and then flick off again. Not every time though. 99% of the time I get nothing and then the tv turns itself off. I have tried safe mode and still nothing. I thought the issue was with my TV but it works fine withother laptops and desktops so im totally clueless  Quote
