sondrio2 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 hi all, just a quicky to say that i uninstalled norton on sunday via the add remove program facility, it totally screwed up my internet connection,i kept getting the message that a firewall was causing a conflict, i rang my broadband supplier and router manufacturer and there was no problem there, so i tried a system restore and that was it, i couldnt even load my desktop, i had to have the laptop repaired a week after my 1 year guarantee had expired at a cost of 150 quid, so i guesss im just warning the novices like myself, be wary of taking off something like norton, my problem was no other means to access the internet so i couldnt get any advice from any of the experts on this wonderful site, so beware, take care when removing norton. RandyL Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I've seen Norton removal screw up a lot of computers. Sometimes the Norton removal tool doesn't even help. Just a bad piece of software in my opinion. You are not alone. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Tootech Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Norton Totally agree, seems to work well enough on a large number of systems, then out of the blue it will trash a new, non tinkered with machine. Best advice if Norton must be installed is to download the removal tool prior to installing....just incase. Quote
