Running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2, with all the updates using the Express button at Windows Update site, "Except" one of them, and that's the problem. Security Update for Windows XP (KB931784) downloads and installs successfully, but the next time I go to Windows Update, it is offered to me again. It doesn't have to download, says it allready is, then installs successfully again. It says in Details at WinUp that it gets added to Add/Remove, but it's not in my Add/Remove Programs window. No other known probs on this machine, just this Security Update being offered every trip to WinUp. Anyone else experience this behaviour, and/or know the fix for this so it doesn''t keep being offered, and does get added to add/remove ? Guest Retired Navy Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Re: Security Update for Windows XP KB931784 Hi John, I should have checked that Windows Update newsgroup, I wasn't thinking again { doin' that alot lately :-) } A fix mentioned there, worked for me ! , This is what I did : I downloaded KB931784 from the Microsoft Download Center, saved it to my desktop, clicked Start and Run, typed the Location of the file, followed by \WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe" /o and then just following the prompts as usual. The added "Space" and the "forward slash" and the "o" is what made it work. The update will be listed towards the bottom under 'XP - Software updates '. If it's still not listed, then check these files versions.
