Guest mcgiv Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Operating Windows 98 with 57% resources. On opening Windows Worddocument, message" dangerously low in resources" and "Stimon not responding" appear and system "freezes" requiring re-boot. How to fix? -- McGiv
Guest Dan Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 RE: windows Word What version of Windows Word are you talking about and it could be that you have too few resources with only 57% to view the Word document well. Does the system fully freeze? I elaborate with does it work after leaving and coming back after a few minutes? Okay, here is what Microsoft says to do about it: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/306393 Actually, it may be better and safer to skip step 2 and go to step 3 if step 1 does not work so you can save yourself from messing around with the registry manually especially if you are not comfortable with working with the registry. Before attempting to fix, I would fully back up your work just in case things get worse before they get better which can happen sometimes. Have a nice rest of the week. Guest Jeff Richards Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Re: windows Word Could this be it? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307814 57% is not a particularly bad level for resources. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "mcgiv" <mcgiv@optusnet.com.au> wrote in message news:eNOD1Ic%23HHA.700@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Operating Windows 98 with 57% resources. How to fix? > It's possible that your default document template has become corrputed (it happens!). Find it in Explorer (usually at C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates) and delete it. Then try opening Word again. (Note: if you had customised this template, you'll have to customise it again). HTH -- Regards Nigel Stapley http://www.judgemental.plus.com <reply-to will bounce>
