Problem with pc but not sure where to post

hello,I resently had a friend of mine to help me build my pc,it was running fine up until now :confused:,every time I try to play a game it just restarts,just like that the game would be loading,I could be just on the main screen and it would just restart,no error message fom windows nothing.

 

I dont have much experiance with pcs my friend helped me build it,but this is far from my field of experiance,wat could be wrong with it,and where should i post this?

I suspect like your PSU doesnt have enough grunt to supply what your system demands of it, in particular what your graphics card needs.

 

Equally it could also be a CPU overheating problem

Sounds like the GPU (Graphics Card) or possibly the drivers -

Can you list the components of the PC please -

CPU,GPU,PSU, RAM and MOBO

hey thank you for teh reply,th specs are

 

Q6600 ( reading from the reports on here alot of ppl have been having problems with it :(

 

power supply is 800Watts

 

2GB of RAM

 

Motherboard is a MSI the p9n one

 

and the graphics card is BFG 8800 OC1,i know its overclocked but I dont think its too much.

 

I got also got a Zalman Fan for the prossessor to keep it cool,and its working fine so maybe its not the prossessor and alot of ppl have told me that a 800Watt PSU is more than enough for the system unless it could be damaged or something is wrong with it.

 

The pc is pretty cooled,i m not using anything like watercooling but the graphic card is pretty stable at around 50c is that too hot?

hey ppl,I have been looking around to try and see what could be wrong with the pc,I re-installed the Graphic card driver and it still restarts when it wants too,no it even comes to the point where i could be on the internet and or working on the computer and it would restart and its not even pushed like for example it would be when playing games.

I looked at the fans and they are all working fine

 

Could there be a problem with the power supply,like i m not getting the 800Watts that i should be?

 

If it is a Prossessor issue,why would that be?

 

or do think i should try maybe another graphic card and see if the problem still occurs?

Q6600's are notorious for not liking some MOBO's - search my thread on Q6600 and AW9D MAX and see if it seems similar - from what you describe - I think that the Q6600 is incompatible with your MOBO - a flash of the BIOS to the latest version may do the trick, ask your friend to do it if you are not too sure.

I basically had the same problem and needed to buy a new MOBO and sell the old one :mad:

hey dalo,just thought i let you know.that when I go into safe mode,the pc does not restart,I had it on for about 2 hours and it was fine.its been getting a bit worse lately.i say about 10 min then the pc just restarts.

 

i was thinking if I could maybe some how uninstall the graphic card driver and see if that coudl be the sourse of the problem.what you think?

When a machine is in safe mode, only the more important bits are loaded, so the processor doesn't have much to do. That is maybe why no problems in safe mode. Considering the compatibilities issues mentioned with the Q6600, it is a fair bet that is the problem.

hey,i installed everyting that was needed for the MOBO,let me just understand what you mean by the intel chip drivers.i installed something that is called nforce or something something like that,but im positive i installed eveything

 

lets say I missed something,whats implications of that?could maybe somehow run the MOBO CD in and install it?

With the Q6600's - when you run the windows update - if you need the intel chip driver it would say - it's basically a driver for the CPU - not a 'chipset' as in Nvidia thats all.
