Guest gobis Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Hello everyone, I have a 4GB Sandisk flash drive that I used to store and transfer large documents that I downloaded from my office computer to home computer (the office computer does not have a DVD burner) The office computer now takes a looong time to `feel` the presence of the flash drive (that did not happen in the first few weeks when I used the flash drive on thatcomputer). Extremely slow data transfers invariably end with I/O error messages. That office computer does have USB 2.0 support and has no problems with other USB drives; my flash drive has no problems with other computers, either. They just don't like each other, for some reason. The only thing I remembers is that, the first time I used the flash drive on my office computer, there were some .sys or exe files, but I deleted them, thinking that they were unnecessary. I can't say whether the problems developed after I deleted that stuff. Virus scans, chkdsk runs, etc. did not reveal any problems (I must admit that the virus scan software was a campus-wide software that some people find inefficient and useless) If anyone has any idea, please reply to this message. Without a DVD burner, I have no other practical means to carry large files around. Best wishes for everyone, Hurol Aslan

Have you changed drive letters on the machine it's slow on? What do the Event Logs say? Please advise -- Newbie Coder (It's just a name) "gobis" <hurol_aslan@mersin.edu.tr> wrote in message news:1190112880.895274.308740@k79g2000hse.googlegroups.com... > Hello everyone, > > I have a 4GB Sandisk flash drive that I used to store and transfer > large documents that I downloaded from my office computer to home > computer (the office computer does not have a DVD burner) > > The office computer now takes a looong time to `feel` the presence of > the flash drive (that did not happen in the first few weeks when I > used the flash drive on thatcomputer).
