Kerberos Service and File Replication Service not running.

Hi,

We had a power failure while an offline disk defragmentation was

happening (on a Windows 2003 Standard Server). Upon reboot, a Chkdsk

ran which found errors in the file system and fixed them. When the

Server boots up, the Kerberos Key Distribution Center service and File

Replication Service aren't running (normally automatic). Starting them

manually gives me the following:

-----------------------

Could not start the Kerberos Key Distribution Center service on local

computer.

Error 126: The specified module could not be found.

-----------------------

and

-----------------------

Could not start the File Replication Service service on local

computer.

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

-----------------------

We have two servers: NELSON (this 2003 box) and BARNEY (a Windows 2000

Server box). Both are domain controllers. When I add a computer in

Active Directory (for example) it doesn't replicate to the other

server.

I'm getting errors in Event Viewer > Application like this:

-----------------------

Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the

event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine

that describes the reason for this.

-----------------------

Windows cannot find the machine account, The requested security

package does not exist .

I'm getting errors in Event Viewer > Directory Service like this:

-----------------------

The Knowledge Consistency Checker (KCC) has detected that successive

attempts to replicate with the following domain controller has

consistently failed.

Attempts:

6

Domain controller:

CN=NTDS Settings,CN=BARNEY,CN=Servers,CN=Default-First-Site-

Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=********,DC=co,DC=uk

Period of time (minutes):

133

The Connection object for this domain controller will be ignored, and

a new temporary connection will be established to ensure that

replication continues. Once replication with this domain controller

resumes, the temporary connection will be removed.

Additional Data

Error value:

1747 The authentication service is unknown.

-----------------------

(Domain asterisked out, naturally)

Does anyone have idea what the problem is? And hopefully how to fix

it?

Thanks.

UPDATE

Problem fixed. I uninstalled and re-installed Service Pcak 2. Damaged/

corrupt files have been fixed.
