Guest Ben Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I just upgraded the hardware in my computer to a Core 2 Duo, new motehrboard and new video card. I'm trying to re-install Windows XP but it gets hung up on the device installation part and goes to a blue screen. The blue screen says the installation was stopped to protect my computer and blah blah blah. I don't know what is wrong. Everything looks good from a hardware standpoint. Can someone please help? I have a feeling that I'll need to upgrade to Vista.

Guest sgopus Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Re: Installing XP There should be an error code, write this down and do a search on it. "Ben" wrote: > Sorry about that. Guest bbunny Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Re: Installing XP This is a mainstream/value intel motherboard. ***Update to the latest BIOS***. (dos floppy) Download the drivers etc from Intel for this board. Zero out both drives and run the diagnostics from WD. (dos floppy) Only connect the floppy, CD/DVD and the one drive that you intend to use for the OS. Also beware of the ATI drivers. I had to revert back to the 7.3 without the CCC. good luck "Ben" <Ben@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9C3D0DEB-7EF6-4855-B5F4-4D023182305C@microsoft.com... > Sorry about that.
