Guest nic Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Temporary Internet Files & Cookies do not appear in respective folders. I perform clean up's regularly and when going to folders for cookies and temp internet files there's nothing there. Where are they? Which folders? Even when applying "show hidden files & folders" and unchecking box "do not hide protected operating system files" there are no cookies or temporary internet files. Can someone please tell me where they are? Thank you in anticipation. -- nic vee
Guest R. McCarty Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Re: Where have Temporary Internet Files & Cookies gone?? Sometimes those folders automatically redirect into the User temp folder. In some cases utilities that forcibly close any open File Handles will cause XP to re-establish them in the Temp folder. Cookies should always be present in the "Permanent" Cookies path of the profile. When the user is logged in the cookies are copied into the TIF. Run the REGEDIT.EXE program and locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon On the right side of the screen will be the word: ExcludeProfileDirs Double-click that word, and backspace out all the text in the Value Data box that will be displayed. Click OK, then close REGEDIT.EXE and reboot your system. You will now be able to see the Cookies, History, and Temporary Internet Files directories.
